Personal Electronic Device Policy


  • Children of all ages - no personal electronic devices are allowed during before care, after care or on any field trip. This does not include digital cameras, but it does include cellphones & mp3 players. Many of these types of devices, like iTouch & Zune, are now wifi-capable and unsupervised internet access at this age is not in synch with our philosophy of age-appropriate preparation for online activities.
  • MS students may ask permission to use cell phone for specific calls or to use laptop and other personal electronic devices for school work. Students are only welcome to use electronic devices inside the middle school building in the big room.
  • UE and under - no personal electronic devices allowed on campus unless prior permission is given, eg. laptop brought in to work on a presentation.
  • Parents will be made aware of communication process for any overnight trips to help alleviate any stress parents and/or children may have about not being in contact with each other. The process may include emergency contact numbers and/or daily updates to the school office.

Consequences:
  • UE or under, take the device from the student & give to Wendy for parents to pick up. Wendy will remind parents that their child is not welcome to bring a personal electronic device on campus in the first place and notify Kim W. by e-mail for tracking.
  • MS, take the device from the student & give to Corey for parents to pick up and notify Kim W. via e-mail (describing what the student did and what equipment was confiscated). Three inappropriate uses will result in the student no longer being able to bring that electronic device to school.
